Owls Fall To AIC, 70-55

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Coming off two consecutive wins against conference opponents New Haven and Pace, the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team looked to stretch its winning streak to three in a row on Saturday. However, American International came away with a 70-55 win over the Owls in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Trevon Hamlet (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) scored 20 and 14 points, respectively, for the Owls.

The Owls are now 12-11 on the year, 9-10 in Northeast-10 Conference play.

The Owls started the game on fire with three-point shots from Chazz McCarter (New Haven, Conn.) and Hamlet to jump to a 6-0 lead in the first two minutes of play. AIC quickly recovered jumping out to a 10-6 lead and held the lead for the rest of the half. The Yellow Jackets led 37-27 at the break.

SCSU made a run in the second half and closed to within five after a 9-0 spurt. However. AIC scord 22 of the final 31 points of regulation to make it a 70-55 final.

Hamlet had a game-high 20 points, while tying fellow teammate Kieran Ramsey (North Hollywood, Calif.) with nine rebounds. Langston joined in with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Owls are back in action at home against Adelphi on Wednesday scheduled for a 7:30 tip-off.
