Women's Basketball Edged By Saint Rose

The Owls honored seniors Logan Lentz and Shelley Pierson prior to Saturday's game.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team was defeated by the College of St. Rose ,79-66, on Saturday. It was Senior Day for the Owls. Senior Shelley Pierson (Watervliet, N.Y.) led the team with 18 points and picked up seven rebounds in the game. Classmate Logan Lentz (Chambersburg, Pa.) chipped in six points, two steals and two assists.

The Owls were down 14 at the break but were unable to cut into the lead late in the second half. Forward Keshia Primo (Mississauga, Ontario) helped the Owls with 12 points on the night. Camille Fantini (Andover, Mass.) contributed 10 points and six rebounds of her own and freshman Moni Smith-Ocran (Bronx, N.Y.) led the team in rebounds with eight.

With the loss, the Owls dropped to 11-15, and 7-14 in Northeast-10 Conference play. 

Their final regular season game will come on Wednesday when the travel to Worcester, Mass. to face Assumption at 5:30 p.m.
