The visitors scored the first three points of the second overtime before SCSU rolled off three straight to even the score at 85-85. St. Michael's went back in front by two before Greg Langston hit two free throws to even the score at 87-87. Neither team scored in the final 80 seconds of the second frame, extending the contest once again.

The Purple Knights jumped out with the first five points of the third overtime to take a 92-87 lead with 3:04 left. SCSU answered with an 8-0 run to take a 95-92 lead, but St. Michael's hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds to push the game into a fourth extra session.

St. Michael's then led throughout the entire fourth overtime and came away with the five-point win.

The Owls jumped out to a 23-13 lead in the opening 10 minutes of the contest before a 16-6 St. Michael's run evened the game at 29-29. The Purple Knights led by three in the final minute of the half before SCSU scored four straight points before halftime to carry a 39-38 lead into the locker room at intermission.

St. Michael's led for the entire first 10 minutes of the second half, except for one tie, but the Owls used a 16-5 run to take the 10-point lead into the closing minutes.

Smith also recorded team-highs of five assists and three steals in playing an astounding 58 minutes. Hamlet was on the floor for 54 minutes, with Dominique Langston taking part in 50 minutes of action.
