Men's Basketball Edged At Bentley, 80-75

WALTHAM, Mass. - Sophomore Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) scored 29 points for the Owls, but host Bentley pulled away from the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team in the closing minutes en route to an 80-75 win on Saturday afternoon.

SCSU moved to 8-11 overall and 6-9 in league play with the result. Bentley improved to 14-5 overall and 10-5 in league play.

Langston connected on 14-of-21 shots from the floor and added eight rebounds and three steals. Freshman Luke Houston (Pearl River, N.Y.) added 15 points, four assists and two steals. Trevon Hamlet (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also reached double figures with 10 points.

The game was tied at 56-56 with just over eight minutes to play after Houston converted a four-point play for the Owls. From there, Bentley went on a 10-2 run. The Falcons led by as many as nine in the closing minutes and went on to the five-point win.

The first half featured five ties and five lead changes. Bentley led by nine, 31-22, with just under four minutes to go in the frame. However, the Owls stormed back to end the half on a 12-1 run to take a 34-32 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Bentley regained the lead early in the second half and led by seven, 53-46, with 11:27 to play. The Owls countered with a 10-3 spurt capped by Houston's four-point play to even the game.

Southern Connecticut is back in action on Tuesday for a home game against Assumption.
