DiMiceli Scores Three Goals In 4-0 Win Over Bridgeport

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Mario DiMiceli (Vilers-Le-Bouillet, Belgium) scored three goals for the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team as they beat the University of Bridgeport 4-0 in non-conference game on Tuesday night.

DiMiceli scored in the 24th minute after redshirt junior Ross McGibney (Dublin, Ireland) fired a shot on a goal that was saved and deflected away and then put into an open net by DiMiceli. DiMiceli struck again in the 34th minute after he received a pass from freshman Mads Larsen (Trondheim, Norway) and shot it into the lower right corner to give the Owls a 2-0 lead.








SCSU took a 2-0 lead into the second half and scored again in the 69th minute when Senior Mario Costa (Pawcatuck, Conn.) made a lead pass to McGibney who did the rest by putting it into the lower left corner to give SCSU a 3-0 lead. DiMiceli would score one more time after he received a pass from redshirt freshman Tyler Naef (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) and beat the goalkeeper to give him his third goal of the game and lift the Owls past Bridgeport, 4-0.





Goalkeeper Stephen Sasso (Orange, Conn.) got his second shutout of the year blanking the Purple Knights, while recording five saves in the win.

The Owls are now 6-5-1 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to take on the number seven ranked River Hawks of Massachusetts-Lowell at 12 p.m.
