Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team season came to an end on Wednesday night as they fell to No. 2 seed Southern New Hampshire, 5-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Quarterfinals.

The Owls had an opportunity to overcome a 1-0 loss to the Penmen back on Oct. 12, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.

The Penmen scored early in the first half as they put across their first goal in the eighth minute and then scored again just over a minute later to take a 2-0 lead.

The Owls had a few opportunities in the 11th and the 17th minute to cut into the lead when Mario Costa (Pawcatuck, Conn.) and Mario DiMiceli (Vilers-Le-Bouillet, Belgium) both got away shots on goal, but the Penmens goalkeeper made two saves to keep the score at 2-0.

Southern New Hampshire would then score in the 56th minute, 65th minute and again in the 79th minute to give them a comfortable 5-0 lead and they would go on to win by that score.

The Penmen outshot the Owls by a 13-7 margin.

The Owls finished the season with a 8-7-1 record.
