NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team (5-4-1, 4-4-1 NE-10) snapped a four game losing streak as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over American International College (3-8-2, 3-4-2 NE-10) on Tuesday night. Senior Mario DiMiceli (Vilers-Le-Bouillet, Belgium) had a goal and two assists to lead the Owls to their fifth win of the season.
Redshirt Junior Ross McGibney (Dublin, Ireland) got SCSU on the board in the 17th minute off a pass from DiMiceli that he put into the lower right corner to give him his first goal of the season. Later in the first half, Freshman Mads Larsen (Trodenheim, Norway) also scored his first goal of the year off another DiMiceli assist. The Owls led 2-0 going into the half after outshooting the Yellow Jackets by an 18-1 margin.
DiMiceli would pick up his seventh goal of the year in 59th minute after receiving a lead pass from freshman Daquan King (Plainville, Conn.) to give the Owls a commanding 3-0 lead.
Redshirt sophomore Stephen Sasso (Orange, Conn.) picked up his first victory of the season in net for the Owls recording five saves.
The Owls outshot the Yellow Jackets 29-6 in the win.
SCSU will be back in action Friday when they host Southern New Hampshire at 7 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
