The Owls stumbled out of the gate as they fell behind by large margins in the early part of each of the first two sets. Behind 2-0 in set totals, the Owls fought back as they held their first lead of the match at 9-8 in the third. Both teams traded points as the Owls looked poised to claim a set of their own up 10-8. The Panthers rallied back to a 16-13 score. Southern Connecticut answered with a 3-0 run of their own. Late in the set and down 22-20, a kill by Beres added a spark. Unfortunately, the onslaught from Adelphi's offense proved to be too much as the final set ended 25-22.
The Owls are now 22-9 and 10-5 in conference. With two matches left on the season against non-conference opponents, the Owls will play the waiting game as they see where the final standings will fall as post-season play will begin the week of Nov. 11th.
