DiMiceli’s Goal The Difference For SCSU In 2-1 Win Over Dowling

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- Senior Mario DiMiceli(Vilers-Le-Bouillet, Belguim)scored his fourth goal of the season in the 18th minute, which proved to the difference in the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team's 2-1 win over Dowling College in a non-conference game Tuesday night at Jess Dow Field.

Dowling started the scoring off when Sean Dougherty received a cross from Jon Burch and headed it into the top right corner. Southern answered soon after when Daquan King (Plainville, Conn.) scored his first goal of the year, evening the score at one apiece.  Five minutes later DiMiceli got a pass from Ross McGibney (Dublin, Ireland) in front and put it past the goalkeeper to give the Owls the lead, 2-1.

The Golden Lions had a chance late in the 87th minute when a ball ended up in front of a wide open net. Dowling's Mouhamed Mboup put one on goal but Tyler Naef (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) headed the ball away right before it crossed the goal line. Greg Cumpstone (Killingworth, Conn.) earned his second win as an Owl in the 2-1 victory.

The Owls will back in action this Saturday at 11 a.m. when they travel to Stonehill College
