Swimming and Diving Results
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman
Louis Geist (Arvada, Colo) continued his strong freshman season for the Southern Connecticut State University men's swimming and diving team as he captured three first-place marks on a day when the Owls fell to Connecticut College, 160-102.
Geist took three freestyle events, finishing the 200 yard freestyle in 1:46.58, the 500 yard freestyle in 4:45.11 and the 1000 yard freestyle in 9:54.68. Geist was followed by teammate
Joseph Polaco (Waterbury, Conn.) who finished second in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing not far behind with a time of 1:49.13. Polaco had another second-place mark in the 100 yard freestyle, with a time of 49.87.
Sophomore
Raymond Cswerko (Torrington, Conn.) also continued his stellar campaign with a pair of first-place and second-place marks. He captured first in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke, finishing the events in 57.69 and 2:10.72, respectively, and second place in the 100 yard buttefly and contributed to the 200 yard freestyle relay team. The relay team also consisted of
Jared Thurston (Wallingford, Conn.),
Travis Burke (Downingtown, Pa.) and
Dan Elliot (Bellmore, N.Y.).
A pair of second-place finishes and a third-place mark for
Oscar Castillo (Norwalk, Conn.) gave him a solid day in the pool. Castillo finished second in the 200 yard butterfly and the 200 yard IM with times of 1:59.14 and 2:02.49 and took third in the 200 yard backstroke finishing in 2:00.71.
A duo of sophomores had strong day's the pool for the Owls as
Daniel Gallup (Milford, Conn.) finished with two third-place marks and Thurston had a second, third and fourth-place finish on the day.
Junior
Domenick Errico (West Hartford, Conn.) also contributed for the Owls taking home a third and fourth-place mark in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke events.
The Owls will host Queens College on Friday at 4 p.m. and then travel Sunday to Le Moyne for their final regular season meet before the Northeast-10 Championships begin.
