Men’s Swimming and Diving Cruise Past Queens On Senior Day, 127-66

The men's swimming and diving team celebrated senior day on Friday.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's swimming and diving team celebrated its two-member senior class on Friday afternoon with a win over Queens, 127-66.

The two senior members include Sal Marino (Middletown, Conn.) and Zachary Eucalitto (Torrington, Conn.). Both Marino and Eucalitto took home first-place marks on Friday. Marino took the 500 yard freestyle event in 5:18.57 and Eucalitto took the 200 yard breaststroke event in 2:22.04.



Marino was closely followed by a pair of Owls in the 500 freestyle event as Joseph Polaco (Waterbury, Conn.) took second in 5:19.95 and James Vaz (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished third with a time of 5:28.62.

The Owls took home first, second and third in the 200 yard freestyle event. Louis Geist (Arvada, Colo.) took home the top spot in 1:44.25, Raymond Cswerko (Torrington, Conn.) wasn't far behind in second with a time of 1:44.38 and Daniel Gallup (Milford, Conn.) captured third finishing in 1:51.50.

The 50 yard freestyle event featured first and second place finishes by Jared Thurston (Wallingford, Conn.) who took the event in 22.00 and Travis Burke (Downingtown, Pa.) who finished in 23.22.

Dan Elliot (Bellmore, N.Y.) and Christopher Curtin (Wethersfield, Conn.) finished 1-2 in the 200 backstroke with times of 2:08.88 and 2:08.98, respectively.  Curtin also took home a first-place mark in the 200 yard fly event, which he finished in 2:05.48.

Jacob Loschiavo (Waterbury, Conn.) also had a first-place mark for the Owls. He finished the 1650 freestyle event in 18:00.58 in the first individual event of the day.

The Owls also took a first-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay event. The relay group of Loschiavo , Polaco, Kyle Pietro (Huntington Valley, Penn.) and Jimmy Zummo (Stockholm, N.J.) finished the event in 1:43.18.

The Owls will hit the road Sunday as they get set for a dual meet at Le Moyne at 12:30.
