Swimming and Diving Results
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sophomore
Raymond Cswerko (Torrington, Conn.) and freshman
Louis Geist (Arvada, Conn.) finished with a pair of individual first-place marks on Sunday as the Southern Connecticut State University men's swimming and diving team defeated Le Moyne, 146-132.
The meet came down to the last event of the day, the 400 yard freestyle relay event. The Owls would prevail as the relay group of Cswerko,
Jared Thurston (Wallingford, Conn.),
Dan Elliot (Bellmore, N.Y.), and
Joseph Polaco (Waterbury, Conn.) captured the first-place mark with a time of 3:16.01.
Cswerko would finish first in the 100 yard butterfly in 51.78 and the 100 yard backstroke in 52.85. Geist captured his two first-place marks in the 200 yard butterfly, taking the event in 2:03.86 and the 200 yard IM in 2:00.56.
Oscar Castillo (Norwalk, Conn.) finished in second-place right behind Cswerko in the 100 backstroke finishing in 56 seconds flat and again in the 100 yard butterfly, taking second in 54.64.
Austin McMahon (Southbury, Conn.) contributed a second-place mark behind Geist finishing the 200 fly in 2:09.30 and
Christopher Curtin (Wethersfield, Conn.) took a third-place mark behind Geist in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.92.
The Owls would go 1-2 in the 200 yard freestyle event as Polaco and Elliot would take first and second with times of 1:49.62 and 1:51.04.
The 100 yard breaststroke didn't feature a first-place finish for the Owls, but Southern would capture second, third and fourth as Curtin took second,
Jimmy Zummo (Stockholm, N.J.) finished third and
Zachary Eucalitto (Torrington, Conn.) took fourth.
Daniel Gallup (Milford, Conn.) took home a first-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle event, taking it in 5:01.12.
Jacob Loschiavo (Waterbury, Conn.) notched second-place in the 500 free finishing in 5:02.93.
The first event of the day was the 400 medley relay event that the Owls finished first in. The group of Castillo, Zummo, Cswerko and Geist finished the event in 3:37.87.
The Owls will be back in action for the Northeast-10 Championships as they will host the event on Jan. 31-Feb 2.
