THE WEEK AHEAD
The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team will play a pair of Northeast-10 Conference games this week. They will be home at Moore Field House Wednesday night against Saint Anselm at 5:30 p.m. and will travel to Easton, Mass. to face No. 17 Stonehill on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
BEATHEA EARNS WEEKLY HONORS
Freshman
Jackie Beathea was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for her play against Saint Michael's and Merrimack. Beathea averaged 17.5 points per game and 10 rebounds per contest in an 0-2 week for SCSU.
LAST TIME OUT
Southern Connecticut was defeated at home by Merrimack in overtime, 74-70, last Saturday.
• The Owls led by three with under 20 seconds to go before the Warriors Chloe Rothman hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 64. Southern would eventuall fall in overtime.

Jackie Beathea led the Owls with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while
Katie Stopera scored a season-high 14 points in the loss.

Moni Smith-Ocran notched a double-double tying a career high 18 rebounds and scoring 11 points.
STOPERA SCORES CAREER-HIGH VS. WARRIORS
Freshman guard
Katie Stopera scored a career-high on Saturday, netting 14 points against Merrimack.
BEATHEA NOW WITH SEVEN DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Beathea tallied her seventh double-double of the year on Saturday in a loss vs. Merrimack. Beathea scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Owls.
SMITH-OCRAN WITH SIX DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Smith-Ocran recorded her sixth double-double of the year on Saturday as she tied a career-high in rebounds with 18 and also scored 11 points.
BEATHEA NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Beathea was named to Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for her performances during the week of Jan. 7 against Franklin Pierce and UMass-Lowell. Beathea averaged 21.5 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per contest last week.
BEATHEA RECORDS BACK TO BACK DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Freshman
Jackie Beathea recorded two double-doubles this past week. She recorded a career high 23 points against Franklin Pierce and pulled down 11 rebounds and followed that up with a 18 point, 16 rebound effort at UMass-Lowell.
SMITH-OCRAN TALLIES CAREER-HIGH IN REBOUNDS
Senior
Moni Smith-Ocran grabbed a career-high 18 rebonds vs. UMass-Lowell on Saturday. She also contributed her fifth double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 boards against Franklin Pierce.

Jackie Beathea was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rooke of the Week for her performances against Dominican on Dec. 31 and Saint Rose on Jan. 5. She finished the week averaging 15.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per contest.

Southern Connecticut leads the all-time series against Saint Anselm by a 13-6 margin.

The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball beat Saint Anselm last season, 61-46, in a Northeast-10 Contest on Jan. 17 at Moore Field House.

The Owls defeated Stonehill, 59-38, on Jan. 21 in a game held at Moore Field House last season.

OWLS SLIP PAST DOMINICAN
The Owls defeated Dominican on Dec. 31, 59-57, in a non-conference contest to improve their record to 4-5 on the season.

Southern Connecticut recorded a win at home on Dec. 4, beating LeMoyne 69-52. Senior
Camille Fantini scored a team-high 17 points in the win.

Jackie Beathea recorded her fourth double-double on Dec. 8 vs. LeMoyne. Beathea grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds and scored 18 points in the win.

Jackie Beathea recorded her third double-double of the year in a 62-59 loss to Pace on Nov. 28. Sophomore

SMITH-OCRAN NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior forward
Moni Smith-Ocran was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player Of The Week for her performance against Dowling on Nov. 10. Smith-Ocran had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the Owls opener.
OWLS DEFEAT SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS
SCSU defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas on Nov. 17, 63-54, to pick up its second win of the year.
BEATHEA RECORDS FIRST DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Freshman
Jackie Beathea recorded her first career double-double on 11/14 in a loss to Adelphi. Beathea pulled down 15 rebounds to go with her team-high 20 points.
OWLS DEFEAT DOWLING
Southern Connecticut opened its 2012-13 season on Nov. 10 with a win against Dowling, 70-68.
Camille Fantini hit a game winning three-pointer with 28 seconds left in the game.
SMITH-OCRAN POSTS DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Junior
Moni Smith-Ocran posted her first double-double of the year on Nov. 10 vs. Dowling. She scored a team-high 18 points, while pulling down 12 rebounds in the win.
IN SEASON OPENERS
The Owls are now 29-10 in season-opening games since 1974-75. SCSU has won its last five season openers.
IN THE NE-10 PRESEASON POLL
The Owls have been selected fourth in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll.
IN THE NATIONAL POLL
SCSU has been selected No. 21 in the USA Today Sports/ESPN Top 25 coaches preseason poll. They are also No. 16 in the Division II Bulletin preseason rankings.

OWLS ENJOY STELLAR CAMPAIGN
The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team closed the 2011-12 campaign with a 25-6 overall record and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Along the way, the Owls also advanced to the finals of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.
WIN IMPROVEMENT TOPS IN DIVISION II
The Owls improved from 11 wins in 2010-11 to 25 victories in 2011-12, which marked the best win improvement (+14) in all of Division II from the two campaigns.
OWLS FINISH NO. 24 IN NATIONAL POLL
Southern Connecticut concluded the 2011-12 season ranked No. 24 in the national ranking in the WBCA/ESPN Division II poll. SCSU had been ranked as high as No. 18 during the course of the season.
SCSU IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The 2012 appearance marked the sixth appearance all-time for the Owls in the tournament. SCSU is 13-5 all-time in the
NCAA tournament and has won at least one game in each of the six appearances.
SMITH-OCRAN SETS REBOUNDS RECORD
Moni Smith-Ocran set a new single season record last year, recording 307 total rebounds. That broke Melissa Palmer's record of 296 that was set during the 1987-88 campaign.
BROWN EARNS ARRAY OF ACCOLADES
Head coach Meghan Brown was named a finalist for the 2012 National Coach of the Year award in addition to her selection as WBCA Regional and Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year.
TWO OWLS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE LAURELS
Two student-athletes were awarded year-end honors from the Northeast-10 Conference.
Sylvonya Moore was named Second-Team All-Conference, while
Camille Fantini was named to the Third-Team.
TWO EARN ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM HONORS
Moni Smith-Ocran and
Sylvonya Moore were selected to the Northeast-10 All-Tournament team for their performances in helping SCSU reach the finals.
RISING TO THE CHALLENGE
Southern took down three nationally ranked opponents last year, including No. 22 Assumption, No. 23 Franklin Pierce and No. 5 Bentley. The win over the Falcons snapped their 17-game home winning streak.
EXCELLENCE IN THE CLASSROOM
The Owls had seven student-athletes named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the 2011-12 academic year - Jackie Deens,

Lauren Allen, Moni SmithOcran,
Shaniqua Fuller,
Mariah Hankton and
Keshia Primo.
AMONG THE NCAA LEADERS
Southern finished the 2011-12 season ranked among the Division II leaders in several categories. The Owls were No. 6 in steals/game (13.9) and No. 11 in turnover margin (+5.9). In addition,
Camille Fantini closed the year ranked No. 8. among all Division II players in steals/game with an average of 3.5 per outing.
FANTINI JUST MISSES ON STEALS RECORD
Camille Fantini finished just five steals away from setting a new SCSU single-season mark. She had 107 steals on the year, just four back of Geraldine Artis, who registered 111 steals for the Owls during the 1990-91 campaign.

The Owls will travel to Southern New Hampshire on Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m. for a Northeast-10 contest.
