BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Tylon Smith (Manchester, Conn.) scored 12 second half points to help the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team defeat Bridgeport 77-73 on Sunday night. 

For the game, the junior guard had seven assists and five rebounds to go along with 19 points.


Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) led all scorers with 26 points.  The senior guard also grabbed six rebounds.

Early in the second half, Southern Connecticut opened up an 11-point lead only to see the Purple Knights come back with a 24-12 run to lead 68-67 with 5:45 left in the game.  Smith proceeded to drain baskets on three straight Owls' possessions to give SCSU a 73-70 advantage with 3:53 remaining.

With the Owls earning victories in both games at the Bridgeport Men's Basketball Classic, SCSU is now 2-0 (0-0 NE-10).  The Owls play next Friday night at Concordia College - New York.
