BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - Five players scored in double figures as the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team remained undefeated defeating host Concordia, 98-74.
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) led all scorers with 28 points.
The senior guard also had six rebounds and dished out three assists..Â
Luke Houston (Pearl River, N.Y.) had a double-double for the Owls. The junior scored 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
Tylon Smith (Manchester, Conn.) totaled 14 points while
Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) chipped in 13.
Lucas Van Nes (Hamden, Conn.) added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Down a point four minutes after tipoff, SCSU ran off a 27-12 run over the next 10 minutes to take a commanding lead, one that they would never relinquish. The Owls, who led by as many as 18 in the first half, shot 47% for the first 20 minutes. Langston tallied 18 points as SCSU led the Clippers 49-34 at the half.
The Owls' 15-point halftime lead continued to grow as SCSU opened the second half on a 10-5 run. A
Jose Cruz (Shrewsbury, Mass,) layup with 11:57 left increased the advantage to 26.The Clippers never got their deficit below 24 after that. Â
For the game, SCSU shot 51% from the field and held a 60-34 advantage on the glass.
SCSU, which improved to 3-0 with the victory, has its home opener on Wednesday Nov. 20 against Adelphi. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
