NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In its first Northeast-10 Conference game of the season, the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team cruised past Adelphi, 80-52. The Owls led wire to wire as they remain undefeated (4-0, 1-0 NE-10).
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) topped all scorers with 24 points. The Owls' senior, who went 12-for-19 from the floor, also grabbed six rebounds.
Luke Houston (Pearl River, N.Y.) led SCSU with nine rebounds. The junior's three-pointer to open the scoring gave the Owls the lead for good.
Southern Connecticut used a 13-2 run over the final six minutes of the first period to increase a four-point lead to 15 at the break.
In the first half, Langston had 15 points, while
Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) had 10 for the Owls, who led 40-25 at the intermission.
SCSU got the jump on Adelphi coming out of the locker room, slowly adding to its lead. The Owls used runs of 16-9 and 18-9 to get the lead up to a game-high of 30 with 4:15 remaining.
The Panthers received a double-double from Boris Fodouop. The forward had 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Southern Connecticut plays next at Pace on Nov. 26. The NE-10 game will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
