The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team have a home game and an away game on its schedule this week. First up, the Owls will take on Saint Rose on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. as part of a SCSU double-header in Moore Field House. Next, the Owls will travel to Springfield, Mass. on Saturday to play American International College. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m.

ALL-TIME VERSUS SAINT ROSE
The Owls lead their series against Saint Rose with a 17-8 record all-time.

ALL-TIME VERSUS AIC
SCSU is 14-20 all time against AIC.

SENIOR CONTINUES HER HOT STREAK
Senior Keshia Primo continues her hot scoring with 16 points along with four rebounds against Pace.

LESTER MAKES HER MARK
Junior guard Sydni Lester, being a newcomer to the Owls this season made her mark in last Tuesday's 66-58 win over Pace with a career high 19 points.

BEATHEA ADDS ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
After posting 13 points and 18 rebounds (career-high) in the Owls' win over Pace, sophomore forward Jackie Beathea recorded her fourth double-double of the season.

PRIMO GETS CAREER HIGH 19
Senior forward Keshia Primo had a career high 19 points in the Owls' win over Post.

SPARK OFF THE BENCH HAS CAREER NIGHT
Sophomore guard Nicole Grossbard acted as a spark off the bench for the Owls as she posted a career-high 12 points along with six assists in the Owls' win over Post.

MCLAUGHLIN NAMED NE-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Taylor McLaughlin was named the Spalding Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference. McLaughlin tallied 20 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in her first collegiate game and season opener against Saint Thomas Aquinas along with 18 points and nine rebounds in the Owls' win over Felician on Nov. 15.

DEENS HAS A DAY
Sophomore Jaqueline Deens had a career-best night in the win over Concordia. She contributed seven points and six rebounds in 16 minutes of play.

GROSSBARD TOPS ASSIST CHART
After suffering an injury that forced her to miss the second half of last season, sophomore Nicole Grossbard has picked up where she left off. She averages 4.8 assists per game, which leads the team.

OWLS IN DOUBLE DIGITS
In the contest at home against Concordia, the Owls posted a season-high 97 points. Four Owls ended the game in double figures. Jackie Beathea recorded 20 points. Danielle Powell posted 14 points. Mariah Hankton chipped in 15 points, along with 12 points from Keshia Primo.

FRESHMEN CONTINUE TO STANDOUT
Freshmen Taylor McLaughlin and Maria Weselyj continue to thrive on the court for the Owls. Both starters, McLaughlin and Weselyj scored in double digits against Felician as SCSU won by a final score of 85-69. Weselyj led all scorers with 19 points and McLaughlin posted 18 points and nine rebounds. Weselyj was also named the Connecticut Army National Gaurd/Southern Connecticut Female Player of the Week this week.

JUST MISSED THE TRIPLE-DOUBLE
Sophomore Danielle Powell came up just short of a triple-double in the win over Concordia. Powell recorded 14 points, eight assists and nine rebounds.

BEATHEA STILL ON TOP
Sophomore Jackie Beathea has continued to be consistent this year. She has started all six games and averages 14.3 points  and 11.3 rebounds per game.

THE SEASON OPENER
The Owls opened their 2013-14 season on the road on Nov. 9 as they traveled to Saint Thomas Aquinas. SCSU pulled out ahead of the Spartans early in the first half and never lost the lead until late in the second half. Taylor McLaughlin led all Southern scorers with 20 points. Maria Weselyj posted 13 points and Jackie Beathea chipped in nine points. The Owls ended up losing by a final score of 67-62.

NEW ARRIVALS
The Owls welcome four newcomers to the squad for the 2013-14 season - Murphy Murad, Maria Weselyj, and Taylor McLaughlin and Sydni Lester.

WELCOME BACK
Southern Connecticut returns eight players from last year's squad - seniors Moni Smith-Ocran and Keshia Primo, junior Mariah Hankton and sophomores Danielle Powell, Nicole Grossbard, Jackie Beathea and Jacqueline Deens.

LOOKING BACK ON THE YEAR THAT WAS
The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team closed the 2012-13 campaign with a 7-18 overall record. The highlights from the year included a season-opening victory over Dowling, who eventually reached the NCAA Championship game.

IN THE POLLS
The Owls were ranked as high as No. 22 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll during the course of the 2012-13 season.

CLEANING THE GLASS
Two of the top five rebounders in the Northeast-10 Conference wore Owls' uniforms last year. Moni Smith-Ocran pulled down 10.8 rebounds per game, which was tops in the league. Jackie Beathea averaged 9.9 rebounds a game, which was good for fourth.

BEATHEA MAKES AN IMMEDIATE IMPACT
Jackie Beathea made her presence felt quickly during her freshman season with the Owls. She led the team in scoring (15.2 points per game) and was second with 9.9 rebounds a game. Beathea's 13 double-doubles were also a team-high. As a result of her efforts, Beathea was named as both the ECAC Rookie of the Year and the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year, in addition to a selection to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team.

EXCELLENCE IN THE CLASSROOM
The Owls had seven student-athletes named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the 2012-13 academic year - Trinity Barnes, Jackie Deens, Nicole Grossbard, Liz McKinley, Danielle Powell, Keshia Primo and Moni Smith-Ocran.

CAPPING A FINE CAREER
Camille Fantini was the lone senior on the Southern Connecticut roster is 2012-13. A year after earning All-Conference laurels, Fantini finished the year with averages of 9.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.1 steals per game.

AMONG THE NCAA LEADERS
The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team had three players finish in the top 25 of NCAA Division II participants in three different categories.   
• Moni Smith-Ocran finished No. 13 in rebounds per game, pulling down 10.8 per contest.
• Camille Fantini was among the leaders in steals per game at No. 21, averaging 3.04 per contest.
• Jackie Beathea ranked No. 20 in double-doubles, recording 13 on the season.
• The Owls as a team also finished No. 32 in steals per game with 11.5 per contest.

EXCELLING IN THE CLASSROOM
Southern Connecticut had four student-athletes selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the 2012-13 academic year.
