Owls Lose to Golden Knights, 77-62

Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Even though there were three players in double figures, the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team couldn't pull out a win tonight, losing to Saint Rose, 77-62.

The Owls are now 4-3, 1-2 in the Northeast 10 Conference. Saint Rose is now 5-4, 2-3 in the NE-10 Conference.



Desiree Simmons from Saint Rose led all scoring with 19.

Keshia Primo (Mississauga, Ontario) led all Owls scoring with 18 along with six rebounds. Jackie Beathea (Annandale, Va.) tallied 13 points and eight rebounds. Mariah Hankton contributed 13 points as well, along with her three steals. Taylor MacLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) chipped in ten points and three rebounds.

The game started out strong with a 7-0 run right off the tip. Saint Rose then went on a 25-4 run to go ahead 25-11 with 10:45 left in the first half. The Golden Knights never lost the lead again in the first half, going into the break with a 31-44 lead.

As the second half began, Saint Rose picked up right where they left off. With 15 minutes left to go, the Owls were able to bring it within four, 49-45. Saint Rose began to pull away with nine and half minutes remaining in the game. The most they were ever up by was 19 and the Owls could not fight back, as the Golden Knights went on to win by a score of 77-62.

The Owls are back in action as they travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on American International on Dec. 7 at 1:30 p.m.
