Owls Fall to AIC On the Road, 89-65

SPRINGFIELD, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team dropped its second game in a row to American International College today, 89-65.

The Owls are now 4-3-1, 1-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play. AIC is now 5-2, 2-2 in NE-10 play. 

Krista Ferrentino from AIC led all scorers with 24 points.

Jackie Beathea (Annandale, Va.) was the leading scorer for the Owls with 20, along with eight rebounds. Sydni Lester (Teaneck, N.J.) continues to excel as she tallied 16 points, three assists and three steals. Keshia Primo (Mississagua, Ontario) chipped in 12 points and four assists. 

AIC took it to the Owls right from the get go, leading for most of the first half. The Owls shot 36.36% from the field and 0% from three-point range before the break. AIC went into halftime with a 20 point lead, 46-26. 

The closest Southern got in the game was when they got it within 12 points with seven and a half minutes still left to go. Following that, AIC really started to pull away and at one point were up by as many as 24 points. 

The Owls shot 40% from the field for the entire game as opposed to AIC's 57.8%, which was the deal breaker in the end. SCSU also shot 14.3% from three and committed 18 turnovers. American International would end up winning by a final score of 89-65. 

The Owls are back in action on Dec. 14 as they travel to Waterbury, Conn. to take on Post, tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
