SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team fell on the road on Saturday, 72-49, to American International in a Northeast-10 contest.

Jackie Beathea (Annandale, Va.) tallied her 13
th double-double of the year, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the loss.
The Owls controlled the first 15 minutes and led by seven with 4:49 remaining in the half, 24-17. Sparked by a Briana Bishop three-pointer, the Yellow Jackets would end the half on a 15-1 run to take a 32-25 lead into the break.
After Krista Ferrentino converted a layup just three minutes into the half, AIC led by 10, 40-30. The Yellow Jackets would extend the lead to 20 with 10:35 remaining in the game at 54-34. Ferrentino led the way for AIC scoring 14 or her game-high 18 points in the second half to lift the Yellow Jackets over Southern, 72-49.
Katie Stopera (Hollis, N.H.) chipped in with 12 points for the Owls, including eight in the first period.
Amani Lightbourne (Elmsford, N.Y.) recorded seven points and a career-high seven assists in the loss.
The Owls will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on LeMoyne at 5:30 p.m.
