THE WEEK AHEAD
The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team will play three Southwest Division Northeast-10 opponents this week. It starts on Monday with a game against Saint Rose at home at 1 p.m. New Haven will then visit the Ballpark at SCSU on Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. start. The Owls will then travel to Syracuse, N.Y. for a doubleheader on Saturday against LeMoyne at 12 p.m. and one more game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Owls picked up two conference wins over the weekend against Saint Rose. They swept away the Golden Knights on Sunday with a 2-1 win in 12 innings and a 5-0 shutout.
• The Owls got two strong pitching performances from junior
Rocco Cundari and sophomore
Cole Bryant. Cundari went eight innings, while only surrendering one run in game one and Byrant tossed eight shutout innings in game two.
• In game one,
Nick Baviello would hustle home on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 12th to give the Owls the win.
• Baviello and
T.K. Kiernan both had four hits on the day to lead the Owl bats.
OWLS IN THE NORTHEAST-10
The Owls are currently 3-5 in the Southwest Division of the Northeast-10 standings as of 4/15.

Pat Egan is second in the Northeast-10 in ERA, posting a 1.11 mark in 24.1 innings of work.

Rocco Cundari is tied for third in wins in the conference with a 5-3 record. He also is second in innings pitched with 61.2 and sixth in strikeouts with 54.
• Micheal Cleary is tied for first in the conference with four triples on the year.

The Owls fell to New Haven earlier this season, 5-4, in a game played on April 2 in West Haven, Conn.

OWLS SWEEP NO. 13 SNHU
The Owls picked up two road wins on April 7 against the No. 13 ranked Penmen.

Rocco Cundari tossed eight strong innings for the Owls in a 7-4 game one win, tallying his fifth victory of the season.

Pat Egan gave the Owls six innings of two hit ball in game two, defeating SNH, 12-4.

Michael Cleary was 5-for-9 in the two wins with a pair of RBI and
T.K. Kiernan hit .400 over the two game stretch to lead the Owls bats.
ROULEAU WALKS OFF AGAINST BRIDGEPORT
Southern Connecticut picked up a non-conference win at home on April 3 against Bridgeport, 5-4, in 12 innings.

A.J. Rouleau picked up an RBI single in the bottom of the 12th, driving in
Brandon Docimo for the game winning run.
•
Matt Burns went 3-for-5 in the win.
OWLS POST STRONG NUMBERS OVER SIX GAMES
Five Owls hit over .300 the week of March 31 during a six game stretch.
• Micheal Cleary led the way batting .364 with six runs and two triples.
• Burns hit. 345 during the stretch with nine runs scored and a pair of doubles.
• Others over .300 were Colin Dickinson (.353),
Nick Baviello (.310) and
T.J. Shea (.304).

DOCIMO NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Sophomore third basemen
Brandon Docimo was named the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll on April 1. Docimo had three hits and three runs scored in two games against Post and Adelphi.

The Owls are No. 4 in the NCBWA regional rankings as of April 8, 2013.
OWLS AND POST END SEASON SERIES WITH A TIE
After splitting the first two games earlier this season, Southern Connecticut ended the season series with Post with a 5-5 tie in 11 innings on March 28, 2013.
•
Matt Burns had three hits and two RBI, including two game tying hits in the ninth and the 11th.
•
Brandon Docimo went 2-for-5 with three runs scored for the Owls.
OWLS SWEEP DOUBLEHEADER FROM BENTLEY
Southern Connecticut picked up a pair of wins on March 24, defeating Bentley, 1-0 and 2-0.
• Game one featured a stellar outing from junior
Rocco Cundari. Cundari tossed seven scoreless innings, striking out nine, earning his fourth win of the year.
•
Cole Bryant picked up his second win of the year in game two for the Owls. Bryant gave the Owls eight scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven.
YERINA NAMED NE-10 AND ECAC POTW
Ryan Yerina was named the Northeast-10 and ECAC Pitcher of the Week on March 18 after going 2-0 with a .60 ERA over 15.0 innings of work, while striking out 12 in starts for the Owls.
YERINA LEADS OWLS IN SPLIT AT ASSUMPTION
Ryan Yerina pitched a complete game shutout for the Owls in a 9-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader at Assumption on March 17. In the second game, the Owls were defeated 8-2.
• Yerina struck out six and only allowed one hit, taking a perfect game into the eighth inning.
•
Michael Cleary went 2-for-5 with a homerun in the first game and had three RBI to lead the Owls.
BRYANT NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Cole Bryant was named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll for his performance against Mercy on March 9.
• Bryant tossed a complete game shutout, striking out seven batters, while only allowing two hits.
OWLS FINISH FLA. TRIP WITH BACK-TO-BACK WINS
Southern Connecticut defeated Merrimack on March 11, 8-1, and followed that up with a 8-1 victory over Pitt-Johnstown on March 12.
•
Rocco Cundari gave the Owls seven innings against Merrimack, allowing one run and striking out eight to pick up his third win of the season.
•
A.J. Rouleau went 4-for-5 against Pitt-Johnstown with four RBI to lead the Owls to a 8-1 decision.
•
Ryan Yerina tossed six innings, giving up one run on his way to his third win of the year.
OWLS SPLIT WITH MERCY
Southern Connecticut split a doubleheader with Mercy on March 9, defeating the Mavericks, 4-0, in the first game and dropping the second, 8-7.
WALK OFF WINNER FOR T.J. SHEA
In the first game against LIU Post on March 2,
T.J. Shea lined the game-winning hit up the middle in the bottom of the ninth inning, driving in
Nick Baviello for 5-4 win.
CUNDARI TOSSES GEM
Rocco Cundari threw seven shutout innings for the Owls in a 13-1 win over LIU Post in the second game on March 2. Cundari only allowed three hits and struck out nine Pioneers on his way to his second win of the season.
BROCHU TAKES NO-HITTER INTO THE SEVENTH
Freshman
Austin Brochu tossed six no-hit innings for Southern on March 3, in a 3-2 win over LIU Post. Brochu would eventually give up back-to-back hits in the seventh to break up the no-hitter.
ROULEAU SHINES AGAINST LIU POST
Senior
A.J. Rouleau finished the four games against LIU Post batting .389 with seven hits, three RBI and three runs scored.
BROCHU, CUNDARI, ROULEAU RECOGNIZED BY NORTHEAST-10
Austin Brochu was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for his pitching efforts against LIU Post on March 3.

OWLS SWEEP MOLLOY TO OPEN SEASON
Southern Connecticut opened the 2013 season sweeping a doubleheader with of Molloy, 2-0, 7-1, on Feb. 16 in Morehead City, N.C.
YERINA NAMED NORTHEAST-10 POTW
Senior
Ryan Yerina was named the Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week for his outing against Molloy in the 2013 opener on Feb. 16. Yerina struck out six batters over seven scoreless innings to pick up the win for the Owls.
A LOOK BACK AT LAST YEAR
The Owls closed the 2012 season with a final overall mark of 31-17. SCSU was ranked as high as No. 3 in the national polls during the course of the season. The squad also qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament during the season.
IN THE PRESEASON REGIONAL POLLS
The Owls were selected fourth in the preseason regional poll by D2baseballnews.com and No. 8 in the NCBWA preseason regional poll.
IN THE NE-10 PRESEASON POLL
The Owls were selected No. 2 in the Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division preseason poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.

The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team concluded the 2012 regular season ranked No. 4 in the final New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association poll.
OWLS FINISH AMONG NCAA STAT LEADERS
In 2012,
Chris Zbin ranked No. 4 nationally in strikeouts per nine innings.
T.K. Kiernan was No. 5 in sacrifice bunts/game and No. 6 in total sacrifice bunts.
Michael Cleary finished No. 8 in triples and No. 12 in triples/game, while
Ryan Geffert was No. 22 in both home runs and home runs/game.
PAIR NAMED TO ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
Kyle Cummings and
Bryan Dorsey, who completed their senior seasons in 2012, were selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball All-Academic Team and also to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball Team.
ZBIN INKS DEAL WITH WINNIPEG GOLDEYES
Chris Zbin signed a professional contract with the Winnipeg Goldeyes last June at the conclusion of his collegiate career with the Owls.
SHEA SELECTED AS BUTTERFIELD AWARD RECIPIENT
Southern Connecticut State University head baseball coach
Tim Shea was selected as the recipient of the 2012 Jack Butterfield Award from the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association. He was formally presented with the award on June 4 in Lowell, Mass. at the annual NEIBA All-Star Game.
CUMMINGS, GEFFERT TABBED WITH REGIONAL 'GOLD GLOVE' HONOR

Ryan Geffert were recognized for their defensive efforts with year-end Rawlings East Region Gold Glove accolades in 2012.
OWLS WIN 30 GAMES AGAIN UNDER SHEA
SCSU won 30 games last year marking the seventh time during head coach
Tim Shea's tenure that the Owls have reached that mark.
RECORD BREAKING SEASON FOR GEFFERT
Ryan Geffert broke eight all-time records last year for the Owls. He is now No. 1 on the list in games played (198), at bats (748), hits (245), doubles (60), homeruns (40), RBI (193), walks (132) and putouts (1567).
ZBIN BREAKS THREE PITCHING RECORDS
Chris Zbin broke three all-time records a year ago. Zbin is now No. 1 on the list in wins with 27, innings pitched with 297.1 and strikeouts with 337.
