SCSU Baseball Places Nine On NE10 All-Conference Teams

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern Connecticut baseball played nine student-athletes on the 2025 Northeast-10 All-Conference teams, as announced by the conference on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

Spencer Chard, Chad Fedeli, Spencer Fox, Jake Gruttadauria and Brennan Staubley were named to the NE10 Third Team while Gruttadauria, Jack Drewry and Derrick Jagello were named to the All-Defensive team. Freshman Jace Alvino and Bradley Chernovetz received All-Rookie honors.

In his first season with the Owls, Chard batted a team-leading .318 (48-151) with four home runs, 19 RBI and a team-high 46 runs scored. He also posted a team-best .440 on-base percentage with 25 walks and eight hit-by-pitches. Chard also led the team with six stolen bases and also had a team-best 12-game hitting streak. In 24 conference games, Chard batted .326 (31-95) with two home runs, 12 RBI and 28 runs scored while posting a .432 slugging percentage and a .458 on-base percentage after walking a team-leading 16 times.

Fedeli was named Third Team Utility, earning his second-straight All-NE10 honor after being named to the Second Team in 2024. Fedeli batted .206 (22-107) with 20 RBI and 23 runs scored. On the mound Fedeli was 4-1 with a 4.60 ERA in six starts while totaling 28 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings.

Fox earned his first all-conference honor since being named to the All-Rookie team in 2021. This season, he was 4-4 in a team-high 11 starts with a 4.67 ERA. He also led the team in innings pitched (61 2/3) and strikeouts (66). He completes his Owls career with a record of 10-9 with eight saves with 199 career strikeouts in 176 innings pitched. In six starts against NE10 opponents, Fox was 3-2 with a 4.58 ERA with 38 K's in 37 1/3 innings pitched.

Gruttadauria was selected to the NE10 Third Team for the second-straight season. This year, Gruttadauria batted .308 while leading the team with 52 hits in a team-high 169 at-bats. Gruttadauria also totaled 10 doubles, 31 RBI and 30 runs scored while also leading the Owls with 16 multiple-hit games. Against NE10 foes, Gruttadauria hit .320 (31-97) while driving in a team-leading 20 runs and totaling 18 runs scored.

Staubley, also in his first season at Southern, was named the NE10 Third Team Catcher after batting .285 (39-137) with four home runs, 27 RBI and 38 runs scored. He also led the team wit 12 doubles and a .474 slugging percentage with 27 walks for a .419 on-base percentage. Against the NE10, Staubley batted .271 (23-85) with two home runs, six doubles, 14 RBI and 24 runs scored.

Jack Drewry made his second-straight NE10 All-Defensive team after being named to the inaugural team in 2024. In 331 chances at first base, Drewry was charged with just two errors for a .994 fielding percentage. Appearing in the Owls NE10 Tournament game against Pace, Drewry became the Owls' all-time leading in career games with 205. For the year, Drewry also did it at the plate as he hit .297 (47-158) with a team-high seven home runs while also totaling 34 RBI and 28 runs scored. Drewry led the team with 28 walks and finished with a .428 on-base percentage and a .468 slugging.

Jagello received the first NE10 honor of his career as he was named All-Defensive Third Baseman. The slick-fielding corner infielder manned the hot corner and committed just three errors in 24 conference games. At the plate, Jagello hit .275 (36-131) with two home runs, six doubles, 23 RBI and 29 runs scored.

Alvino had an impressive year on the mound in his first season at Southern. The freshman hurler was 2-3 in eight starts with a team-best three complete games an a 4.94 ERA. In conference play, Alvino was 2-2 while leading the Owls with 41 2/3 innings pitched, totaling 32 strikeouts.

Chernovetz earned All-Rookie honors despite playing just nine games, albeit behind Third Team pick Staubley. Chernovitz batted .368 (7-19) with seven RBI and six runs scored. The first-year Owl finished the year on a three-game hitting streak in which he was 4-for-7 with four RBI and three runs scored.
