Owls Swept By Dolphins, 6-0, 8-0

The Owls fell in a doubleheader to LeMoyne on Sunday, 6-0 and 8-0.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team  was swept in a doubleheader in Syracuse, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon by LeMoyne, 6-0 and 8-0, in two Northeast-10 contests.

]The Dolphins would score three runs in the bottom of the first and the Owls would have no answer in game one of the doubleheader. The Dolphins scored three more in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead and cruise to a 6-0 victory.

Freshman Mike Yerina (Trumbull, Conn.) pitched 4.2 innings of shutout baseball for the Owls in relief, striking out six in the effort out of the pen.

A.J. Rouleau (Westborough, Mass.) picked up three of the six hits in the loss for the Owls, going 3-for-3 in game one.

In game two, LeMoyne (16-19, 7-4 Northeast-10) picked up four runs in the first inning off Owls starter Cole Bryant. Bryant gave the

Owls six innings and struck four, but gave up six runs in the loss.

The Dolphins would tack on two more in fifth and sixth to go ahead 8-0 and go on to sweep the doubleheader by that score.

The Owls would only tally four hits in the game two loss.

Southern Connecticut falls to 17-15-1 overall and 3-9 in the Southwest Division.

The Owls and Dolphins will meet again tomorrow to finish up a three game set in Syracuse, N.Y. at 1 p.m.
