Box Score
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Le Moyne broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning with three runs and added one more in the eighth to defeated the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team, 4-0, in a Northeast-10 contest Sunday afternoon.
After dropping both games of a doubleheader yesterday to the Dolphins, the Owls once again struggled to score runs.
Owls hurler
Steve Landell (Higganum, Conn.) tossed seven strong innings, giving up three runs, one of which was earned, on four hits, while striking out seven in a quality start.
Landell was matched pitch for pitch by Le Moyne's starter, Casey Cannon, who pitched a complete, three hit shutout in the win.
The Owls would threaten in the top of fifth after
A.J. Rouleau (Westborough, Mass.) reached on an infield single. After
T.J. Shea (Hamden, Conn.) singled back through the middle and
Brandon Docimo (Stamford, Conn.) earned a walk, the Owls had the bases loaded with only one out. Cannon would get back-to-back strike outs to end the frame and keep Southern Connecticut off the board.
The Owls fall to 17-16-1 overall and 3-10 in conference play and be back in action Wednesday at Adelphi for a 3:30 p.m. start.
