SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Southern Connecticut State University swimmers Raymond Cswerko (Torrington, Conn.) and Christian Berg (Groton, Conn.) earned weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference for their performances this past weekend.  Cswerko won five individual events in two meets last weekend to grab his sixth swimming athlete of the week honor, while Berg was the men's rookie of the week.

Cswerko won three events for Southern Connecticut versus Marist on Jan. 11. The junior took the 100 yard butterfly with a finishing time of :51.15. Cswerko touched the wall first in both the 200 yard breaststroke (2:07.65) and 200 yard freestyle, an event where the Owls went 1-4 (1:44.48). The junior was also part of the winning 200 yard freestyle relay team.

At Connecticut College the following afternoon, Cswerko touched the wall first in the 100 yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 59.81 and the 200 yard breastroke (2:08.58). The junior placed fourth in the 200 yard freestyle (1:47.89).

Berg continued his strong rookie season, winning the 100 backstroke (52.15) and 200 backstroke (1:52.28) versus Marist on Jan. 11. Both times were tops in the NE-10 this season.

Berg was also victorious in the the 200 yard backstroke against Connecticut College with a time of 1:56.47. The freshman placed third in the 100 yard backstroke (:53.57) at the dual meet held on Jan. 12.

The Owls compete next on Friday afternoon at Queens College.
