Team Effort in Owls' Victory Over Stonehill, 110-84

NEW HAVEN, Conn.  - Five players scored in double figures as the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team defeated Northeast-10 Conference foe Stonehill 110-84.


Tylon Smith (Manchester, Conn.) led all scorers with 22 points.  The junior, one of three Owls to tally over 20 points, had six assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Deshawn Murphy (Hamden, Conn.) shot 50% from the field in the contest.  The sophomore, who knocked down five of his eight attempts from three-point range, totaled 21 points.


Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) recorded 20 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.  The senior shot 54% from the field.

Luke Houston (Pearl River, N.Y.) had 16 points and nine rebounds, while Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) added 12 points off the bench.


The Owls, which shot 58.6% from beyond the arc for the game, saw 12 players record points in the win.


A Smith trey at the 13:22 mark of the opening period gave SCSU a 20-18 lead.  Stonehill never led thereafter.

Murphy knocked down his final three of the game with 6:48 remaining to give SCSU a 36 point lead, its largest lead of the contest.



The Owls, 15-2, 9-2 NE-10, travel to No. 21 Franklin Pierce on Saturday afternoon.  The Northeast-10 Conference game will tip off at 3:30 p.m.
