ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - Five players scored in double figures as the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team defeated Post, 90-73, in the opening game of the Clancy Tournament, hosted by Dominican College.
SCSU, which scored 52 second half points to overcome a halftime deficit, received a game-high 21 points from
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) and 18 from
Luke Houston (Pearl River, N.Y.).
Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) came off the bench to tally 16 points, while
Tylon Smith (Manchester, Conn.) and
Deshawn Murphy (Hamden, Conn.) chipped in with 14 and 12 points respectively.
Southern Connecticut closed the game on a 29-8 run to open up what was a back and forth contest. Langston recorded eight of his points during the run.
Smith, Langston, Murphy and Mallory each totaled double figures over the final period, one where SCSU shot over 60% in.
The Owls (10-1, 5-1 Northeast-10 Conference) play host Dominican Saturday at 6 p.m.
