ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -
Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) scored a game-high 26 points off the bench to help the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team defeat Dominican 85-73 at the Clancy Tournament.
The freshman, one of three Owls to eclipse the 20 point plateau, also grabbed five rebounds and had three steals with his career-high point total.
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) and
Tylon Smith (Manchester, Conn.) each tallied 22 points in the victory.
SCSU fell behind its hosts early in the first half, trailing by nine points with 10 minutes remaining before the intermission. From there, the Owls went on a 33-15 run to take an 11-point lead into the locker room.
Langston and Smith each had eight points during the run.
Mallory totaled 18 of his points in the second half, as Southern Connecticut never trailed during the final period.
Luke Houston (Pearl River, N.Y.) corralled a game-high 11 rebounds for SCSU.
The Owls, 11-1, 5-1 Northeast-10, play next Wednesday at home against Southern New Hampshire at 7:30p.m.
