Complete Game Notes as a .PDFTHE ROAD AHEADThe Southern Connecticut State University volleyball continues Northeast-10 Conference play as the team hosts three matches this week at Pelz Gymnasium. The match starts Tuesday night against Adelphi Universtiy and again on Friday as Southern New Hampshire comes to town for a 3 p.m. match. On the weekend, the Owls will host Stonehill on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
A LOOK BACKThe Owls went 1-1 last week in Northeast-10 Conference play with a 3-1 home victory against Assumption. However, Bentley took the Owls second match of the week with a 3-0 win in Waltham, Mass.
ALL-TIME VERSUS ADELPHIThe Panthers lead the all-time series against Southern Connecticut, 20-1.
ALL-TIME VERSUS SNHUThe Penmen hold a 9-8 edge in the all-time series over the Owls.
ALL-TIME VERSUS STONEHILLÂ The Skyhawks have a 15-4 edge in the all-time series with Southern Connecticut.

FORD BLOCKS THE WAY HOMELeading the Owls on the net last week in block was sophomore
Faith Ford. She finished the week with a team-high total of five blocks. She is currently ranks fourth on the team in blocks with 24.
SEASON BEST FOR CARLBERTNatasha Carlbert picked up her first season double-double against Assumption recording 15 kills and 13 digs. She also posted a season-high .243 hitting percentage.
WHO RANKS WHERE?Nicole Hauser continues to lead the Owls' offense with a combined total of 151 kills (2.65 k/s). Also leading the Owls' offense is
Taylor Carlson with 226 assists. Defensively,
Morgan Carman ranks first on the team in digs (250) while
Briauna Tutwiler leads the team in blocks (28).
THIRD TIMES A CHARMHauser recorded her third career triple-double in the five set thriller at home against Le Moyne. The sophomore finished the day with a career-high 22 kills to go along with a .381 hitting percentage, and also tallied 11 assists and 12 digs. Following that game, Hauser was selected to the Northeast-10 weekly honor roll.
MS. 1,000Carman went over the 1,000 dig mark for her career during the match against Le Moyne on Saturday, Oct.4. She now has 1,057 in her career.
DOUBLE TROUBLEAlexandria Jurgens posted her first career double-double (10 kills and 12 digs) in the 3-0 win against Holy Family.
Nicole Hauser recorded her first double-double of the season for the Owls with a 20 kill and 15 assist performance against Nyack. Hauser also registered her second double-double of the season against Dowling College.
NORTHEAST-10 WEEKLY HONORSAlexandria Jurgens was named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week as well as CT Army National Guard/SCSU Athlete of Week back on Set. 22.

IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLLThe Owls were selected to finish 10th according to the Northeast-10 Conference coaches' poll.
LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEARThe Owls posted their sixth consecutive winning season during the 2013 campaign and closed the year with 17 wins. SCSU also narrowly missed out on a bid to the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

GUNNESON NAMED TO NE-10 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMKelly Gunneson was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team for her work in the classroom and on the court last fall. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; achieved a 3.3 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution.
MCVEY EARNS ALL-CONFERENCE HONORSSenior
Lauren McVey received year-end honors from the Northeast-10 Conference, as voted on by the league's coaches. McVey was named to the Third-Team for the second consecutive season.
ON DECKThe Owls are back in action on Oct. 23 as they'll travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on American International. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
