Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. - The No. 7 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University Owls defeated Saint Anselm Saturday afternoon by a score of 4-1. The win brings the Owls to 11-1 overall and 8-1 in the NE-10, while the Hawks fall to 3-9 and 2-7 in the NE-10.
Southern got on the board first with two quick goals late in the first half.
Brandyn Rowlinson (East Islip, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the year at 41:25 and
Chae Brangman (St. George's, Bermuda) added another goal 34 seconds later to send the Owls to the locker room with a 2-0 halftime lead.
Brangman added another goal at 53:36, his fourth on the year, to increase the Owls' lead to 3-0. Under three mintes later, Rowlinson came back with his own second goal of the game and second of the season. Saint Anselm's Ronan O'Callaghan added a goal at 71:58 to bring the score to 4-1.
The Owls outshot Saint Anselm 13-7 overall and 7-4 in shots on goal. Both teams took seven corner kicks, Southern was called for offsides six times compared to none for the Hawks, and fouls were 17-6 in favor of Saint Anselm.
Southern Connecticut State University returns to action next Wednesday against the University of New Haven at 7 p.m.
