Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. - On a rainy Wednesday night, the No. 7 nationally ranked men's soccer team beat the University of New Haven Chargers by a score of 1-0.
Markus Jacobsen scored the only goal of the game.
With the win, the Owls are now 12-1 overall and 9-1 in the NE-10. The Chargers fall to 2-12 overall and 1-9 in the NE-10.
Jacobsen's goal came in the 40
th minute off a corner kick.
Brandyn Rowlinson headed the ball into the ground towards Jacobsen who took the ball of a bounce and basted it past goalie Marc Scelsa into the top right corner. It was Jacobsen's fifth goal on the year.
The rain was falling down throughout the whole game, and the Owls were able to dominate while New Haven struggled to get momentum. Southern outshot the Chargers 21-2 overall and 9-0 in shots on goal.
The Owls have just three games left to play in their season. Ther final home game is this Saturday at 1 p.m. against Saint Michael's College.
