THE ROAD AHEADLooking to snap a four-game losing streak, the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team will play four matches this week.
First, the Owls welcome American International to Pelz Gymasium for Tuesday night rematch before challenging LIU Post on Thursday in Long Island. On Saturday, SCSU returns to Pelz Gymn to take on Saint Michael's College in a NE-10 Conference showdown. The Owls will wrap up the weekend on Sunday, as the team will host Saint Anselm on Senior Day.
A QUICK LOOK BACKThe SCSU volleyball team went 0-3 last week as the Owls fell to American International (3-1), Molloy (3-0) and Merrimack (3-0).

Faith Ford finished the evening with a combined 20 kill effort, but the SCSU volleyball fell to American International, 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 23.
SENIOR DAYOn Sunday, Nov. 2, the SCSU volleyball team would like to recognize the accomplishments of its two-member senior class: Nastasha Carlbert and
Madison Featherston. To date, this group has helped lead the program to its third winning season as well as posting 66 total wins and two Northeast-10 Tournament berths thus far.
CARLSON WITH THE ASSISTTaylor Carlson currently leads the team in assists with 312 (4.05 a/s). As of today (Oct. 24) she has 943 career assists, just 57 shy of her 1,000 career assist.
WHO RANKS WHERE?Sophomore
Nicole Hauser continues to lead the Owls' offense with a combined total of 204 kills (2.62 k/s). Defensively,
Morgan Carman ranks first on the team in digs (331) while sophomore
Briauna Tutwiler leads the team in blocks (49).
DOUBLE TROUBLENicole Hauser currently leads the team in double-double with three. She posted her third double-double of the season against SNHU, 13 kills and 20 assists. Hauser recorded her first double-double of the season against Nyack and her second double-double of the season against Dowling College.
NORTHEAST-10 WEEKLY HONORSFor the third time this season,
Nicole Hauser has been selected to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll.
Morgan Carman was selected to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll back on Sept. 8th.
FRESHMAN SUCCESSAlexandria Jurgens posted her first career double-double (10 kills and 12 digs) in the 3-0 win against Holy Family. Jurgens was named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week as well as CT Army National Guard/SCSU Athlete of Week back on Set. 22.
MS. 1,000Carman went over the 1,000 dig mark for her career during the match against Le Moyne on Saturday, Oct.4. She now has 1,138 in her career.

IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLLThe Owls were selected to finish 10th according to the Northeast-10 Conference coaches' poll.
LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEARThe Owls posted their sixth consecutive winning season during the 2013 campaign and closed the year with 17 wins. SCSU also narrowly missed out on a bid to the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

GUNNESON NAMED TO NE-10 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMKelly Gunneson was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team for her work in the classroom and on the court last fall. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; achieved a 3.3 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution.
MCVEY EARNS ALL-CONFERENCE HONORSSenior
Lauren McVey received year-end honors from the Northeast-10 Conference, as voted on by the league's coaches. McVey was named to the Third-Team for the second consecutive season.
ON DECKThe Owls are back in action on Nov. 4th as they'll travel crosstown to take on the University of New Haven Chargers in a Northeast-10 Conference clash. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
