American International came out charging in the first until a kill from

It was another intense battle between the two teams early in the second. AIC slowly started to pull away with the lead until an attack error by the visitors put the Owls to within one (18-17). However, American International topped Southern Connecticut, 25-20.
It was another story in the third set as the Owls came out for vengeance. It started off a point-by-point battle until an 8-1 run by the Owls brought the score to, 21-16, in favor of the home team. Not long after, the Yellow Jackets came back to threaten the Owls, but Hauser ended the set with a kill sending the match into a fourth set.
Similar to all the rest, both teams battled valiantly for the lead. Following an American International timeout,
Natasha Carlbert (Southington, Conn.) brought the Owls to within two (18-16) with her serving. The Yellow Jackets started to pull away with the match until a great effort by the Owls' offense tied the score  at 24-24. Both teams not letting up, Southern Connecticut secured the fourth set victory, 28-26, by a Hauser kill and a Yellow Jacket attack error.
In the fifth and final set, it was all Southern Connecticut as the Owls recorded an 11-8 lead heading into a Yellow Jacket timeout. Shortly after, American International came back to within two (13-11) forcing the Owls to take a timeout. With the match tied up at 14-14, Hauser secured the 16-14 win with back-to-back kills.
The Owls are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 30 as they'll take on LIU Post. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
