Box Score OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Twelve different players scored for the Southern Conecticut State men's basketball team in its 123-81 rout of Felician on Friday evening. The team's 123 points are tied for the second most points scored in a single game in program history. The program record of 124 points came during the 1956-57 season in a 124-66 win over Hillyer (now the University of Hatford). The only other time the Owls scored 123 points came in 2001 in a 124-123 in triple overtime loss to Pace. Junior
Deshawn Murphy (Hamden, Conn.) led the Owls with 18 points. Senior
Tylon Smith (Manchester, Conn.) collected 16 points and eight assists. Jeyvi Miavivululu of Felician led all scorers with 22 points. With the win, the Owls improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Golden Falcons fall to 0-4.
Southern had eight players score in double digts. Sophomore
Austin Carter (Bloomfield, Conn.), junior
Stefon Williams (Jamaica, N.Y.) and sophomore
Michael Bozzuto (Wolcott, Conn.) all scored 11 points off the bench for the Owls. Sophomore
Jonathan Paul (Westlake Villiage, N.Y.) scored eight points, sophomore
Lucas Van Nes (Hamden, Conn.) added four points, while sophomore
Jose Cruz (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior
Jack McCarthy (Wallingford, Conn.) scored two points apiece.Â
The Owls quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead as junior
Deshawn Murphy (Hamden, Conn.) sank a three-pointer on the game's first shot just 16 seconds in. Southern kept the pressure on through the first six minutes, forcing seven Golden Falcon turnovers.
With 14:41 remaining, every member of the Owls starting lineup had scored at least two points, as senior
Luke Houston (Pearl River, N.Y.) registered his first bucket with a layup to bring the team's lead to 25-8. With 8:25 remaining, a three-pointer by junior Desmond Wiliams (Torrington,Conn.) upped the Southern lead to 24 points at 48-24. Down the stretch, three-pointers by sophomore
Austin Carter (Bloomfield, Conn.) and Williams with just over three minutes to go in the opening half helped up the Southern lead to 72-42 at halftime.
In the second half, the Owls outscored the Golden Falcons by a 51-39 margin. The Owls shot 59 percent from the field and 44 percent from three point range during the game. Every player on the roster also played at least 11 minutes in the contest.

The Owls return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Caldwell for the first time in program history. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the campus of NYIT.
