Complete Game Notes as a PDFHOME AT LASTThe Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team continues the 2014-15 season with two home games this week against Pace University on Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. and the University of District of Columbia on Saturday at 2 p.m.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PACESouthern Connecticut leads the all-time series with the Setters, 19-16.
LAST SEASON AGAINST PACESouthern Connecticut went 1-1 last season with the Setters. In the first meeting, the Owls defeated Pace 66-58, but lost the second game against the Setters, 70-60.
SCOUTING THE PACE SETTERSThe Setters are 1-3 overall and 1-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Setters averaged 52.0 points per game while shooting 32.5 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from long range. Margo Hackett leads Pace with 12.5 points per game as well as 2.3 steals and 5.8 rebounds per contest.
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYONEThis is the first time that Southern Connecticut will take on the University of the District of Columbia.
SCOUTING UDCThe University of the District of Columbia holds a 3-1 record. As a team, the Firebirds average 80.5 points and 44.2 rebounds per game. Senior forward Denikka Brent leads the team with 15.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 4.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.
LAST TIME OUTSouthern Connecticut is coming off an 0-1 week as the Owls lost their Northeast-10 Conference opener to Adelphi University, 81-63.
THIRD STRAIGHTJuniors
Danielle Powell and
Jackie Beathea recorded their third-straight double-double for the Owls. Powell recorded 10 points, 13 rebounds and a team-high three blocks while Beathea posted a team-high 13 points and 19 rebounds against Adelphi.
NORTHEAST-10 HONORSJuniors
Danielle Powell and
Jackie Beathea were named to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll last week for their performance in the Owls 0-2 week against Bridgeport and Molloy.
LEADING THE WAYJackie Beathea currently leads the team in both points (15.3 ppg) and in rebounds (15.0 rpg).
Nicole Grossbard ranks first on the team in assists with 19 while
Danielle Powell leads the Owls in steals (4) and blocks (4).

DESALVO NOTEBert DeSalvo begins his first season as head coach for the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team. Entering the season, DeSalvo had compiled a 99-26 (.792) overall record as a head coach.
IN THE POLLSSouthern Connecticut was selected seventh in the Southwest Division according to the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll.

LOOKING BACK ON THE SEASON THAT WASThe Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team closed the regular season with 12 wins and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Owls had three student-athletes recognized by the league with year-end honors.
TWO NAMED TO NE-10 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMSJackie Beathea was selected Third Team All-Conference and freshman standout
Taylor McLaughlin was named to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team.
AMONG THE NE-10 LEADERSAmongst the returners, the Owls had two players finish in the top 10 of Northeast-10 Conference participants in three categories.

EXCELLING IN THE CLASSROOMSouthern Connecticut had nine student-athletes selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the 2013-14 academic year.
