FIRST TIME FOR EVERYONEThis will be the first time in program history the Owls and the Lions will meet for a non-conference showdown.
SCOUTING THE LIONS-Georgian Court is coming of a tough 72-60 loss against Lincoln University.
-The Lions still seek their first taste of victory (0-8) this season.
-Jaelyn Tweedy leads the Lions in scoring averaging 10.6 points per game.
-Georgian Court averages 67.2 points per game while shooting 38.5 percent from the floor, 23.3 percent from long range and 60.5 percent from the line.
A QUICK LOOK BACK Southern Connecticut continued its winning ways as the Owls recorded a 3-0 week and improved to 6-4 on the season and 4-1 in the NE-10 Conference. The Owls opened the week with a road win over Concordia (N.Y.), 67-61, while defeating Le Moyne, 76-64, Saturday afternoon. Southern Connecticut wrapped up the week with a huge 100-77 win over Post.
NORTHEAST-10 SOUTHWEST STANDINGSAs of 12/15, Southern Connecticut remains at the No. 2 spot in the Northeast-10 Southwest Division standings with a record of 4-1 while Adelphi leads the division with a 5-0 conference mark.
THE LAST TIME THE OWLS...Following Sunday night win over Post, the Owls have not had 10+ players score as well as scoring 100 points against their opponent since the 2008-09 season. On Sunday night, the team had 13 players score at least a point.
SEVEN DOUBLE-DOUBLESIn two of the Owls' three games last week,
Jackie Beathea posted her sixth and seventh double-double of the season. She tallied 15 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Concordia and followed that with 18 points and 12 boards in a win over LeMoyne.
A CAREER NIGHTFreshmen
Kendra Meredith and
Abby Hurlbert tallied their first collegiate points for the Owls while Hurlbert recorded the Owls' 100th point in the win over Post on Sunday.

Taylor McLaughlin were all named to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll this week after their performance in the Owls' 3-0 week.
BEATHEA NAMED CONNECTICUT ARMY NATIONAL GUARD/SCSU ATHLETE OF THE WEEKAfter posting her sixth and seventh double-double of the season as well as averaging 16.3 points and 11.0 rebounds,
Jackie Beathea has been named Connecticut Army National Guard/SCSU Female Athlete of the Week.
BEATHEA STILL ON TOPJackie Beathea continues to lead the Owls in both points (14.8 ppg) and in rebounds (11.7 rpg).
GROSSBARD AND HANKTON LEADING THE WAYNicole Grossbard also continues to lead the team in assists with 63 while
Mariah Hankton leads the Owls in steals with 15.

DESALVO NOTEBert DeSalvo is in his first full season as head coach for the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team. Entering the season, DeSalvo had compiled a 99-26 (.792) overall record as a head coach.
IN THE POLLSSouthern Connecticut was selected seventh in the Southwest Division according to the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll.

LOOKING BACK ON THE SEASON THAT WASThe Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team closed the regular season with 12 wins and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Owls had three student-athletes recognized by the league with year-end honors.
TWO NAMED TO NE-10 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMSJackie Beathea was selected Third Team All-Conference and freshman standout
Taylor McLaughlin was named to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team.
AMONG THE NE-10 LEADERSAmongst the returners, the Owls had two players finish in the top 10 of Northeast-10 Conference participants in three categories.

EXCELLING IN THE CLASSROOMSouthern Connecticut had nine student-athletes selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the 2013-14 academic year.
