Jackie Beathea (Annadale, Va.) had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team dropped a 70-60 decision to Pace on Wednesday evening.\
The Owls dropped to 12-12 and 8-10 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Pace is now 6-18, 5-13 in league play.
A surge in the final 10 minutes provided the push needed for the visiting Setters to secure the win. The Owls were down seven at the half, 35-28, but used a strong first 10 minutes out of the break to gain a 49-46 lead after a bucket and free throw from Primo.
Pace countered with a 24-7 spurt to pull ahead for good and went on to the 10-point win.
In the first half, neither team led by more than seven. Pace held the Owls without a field goal for nearly four minutes to end the frame to pad its lead to seven at the break.
Sydni Lester (Teaneck, N.J.) added nine points and eight rebounds for the Owls.
SCSU is back in action on Saturday for a game at Saint Rose.
