Primo Scores Career-High On Senior Night Loss to AIC, 70-67

Keshia Primo posts career-high 29 on senior night loss, 70-67.
Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Keshia Primo (Mississagua, Ontario) scored her career-high in points tonight in her last home game as an Owl, the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team couldn't hang on to win it, losing by a score of 70-67. 

The Owls end the regular season 12-14 overall, 8-12 in Northeast-10 Conference play. AIC is now 17-9 overall, 11-9 in NE-10 play. 



Primo led all scoring in her senior night send-off, posting her career-high 29 points along with five rebounds and two assists. 



Jackie Beathea (Annandale, Va.) tallied her 14th double-double of the season, with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sydni Lester (Teaneck, N.J.) recorded eight points, including 4-4 from the free-throw line and five rebounds. Nicole Grossbard (Pearl River, N.Y.) and Taylor McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) both chipped in six points apiece. 



The Yellowjackets took at 20-15 lead with 10:29 left in the first half, but the Owls were able to go on a 5-0 run to tie it back up at 20 with 7:24 to go. There were five lead changes in the first half and four ties, the last one coming with 18 seconds remaining as Sydney Tepley of AIC hits a clutch free-throw, making the score at the break 30-30. 



The Yellowjackets got off to a strong start in the second half, going on an 11-4 run, making the 41-34 at the 16:13 mark. AIC continued to dominate, leading by as many as 10. The Owls then make a 11-2 run of their own bringing it to within one with 6:43 to go. A jumper, an "and-one" play and a three-pointer from Primo cut the score to three, but time was not on Southern's side, losing to American International by a final score of 70-67. 



The Owls are back in action when they open Northeast-10 Tournament play at Franklin Pierce on Feb. 28. Tip-off for that game is set for 7 p.m.
