WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Kevin Joslyn (Norwalk, Conn.) converted a penalty kick with 1:29 remaining in regulation to propel the No. 7 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Assumption earlier today.

The Owls improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in league play with the win. Assumption is 0-4 and 0-1.

Southern Connecticut opened the scoring in the 42nd minute when Chae Brangman (St. George's, Bermuda) connected for his second goal of the year. Markus Jacobsen (Oslo, Norway) assisted on Brangman's tally.

Despite the fact that the Owls held a decisive edge in shots over the Greyhounds, the hosts were able to knot the score in the 67th minute on a goal from Troy Lamagna.

Southern continued to apply the pressure and it paid off late in regulation. Joslyn took the penalty kick that was awarded to the Owls and buried his second game-winning goal in the first four matches of the year.

The Owls held a 25-7 advantage in shots for the game. SCSU keeper Noah Veronier (Miller Place, N.Y.) turned away two shots to earn the victory.
