GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Sophomore Kevin Joslyn (Norwalk, Conn.) scored just 72 seconds into play for the only goal of the match as the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team held off No. 8 nationally ranked LIU-Post on Thursday in the season opener for both teams.

Joslyn's goal was a header that came off a cross from fellow classmate Alex Soriano (Wallingford, Conn.).

Goalkeeper Noah Veronier (Miller Place, N.Y.) turned away all four shots on goal that he faced to post the shutout.

LIU-Post held a 15-8 edge in total shots in the game. Each team recorded four corner kicks.

The Owls are back in action on Saturday when they face Mercy in a 5 p.m. start.
