NE-10 SOUTHWEST STANDINGSAfter posting a 1-1 week, the Owls remain third in the Southwest Division as well as tied with Le Moyne College. Adelphi and New Haven claim the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, respectively.
A QUICK LOOK BACKSouthern Conn. went 1-1 last week in Northeast-10 Conference action as the team fell to No. 5/7 Stonehill in overtime, 82-74, but bounced back to defeat Franklin Pierce at home, 71-63.
THE LAST TIME AGAINST FRANKLIN PIERCEWith the win against Franklin Pierce, the Owls earned their first victory against the Ravens since Jan. 3, 2012. The Owls had four players score at least 10 points in the 81-74 road victory.

Mariah Hankton led the way with 19.0 points while

Maria Weselyj recorded 12.5 points and 10.0 points per contest.

Mariah Hankton led the Owls in scoring. Last week, Hankton averaged 19.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest as well as recorded a steal and three assists.
DEFENSIVE LOCKDOWNIn the last five games,
Danielle Powell has recorded 3.8 blocks per game while tying her career-high six blocks against Bentley on Jan. 10. She is currently leading the team in the blocking category with 45.

Danielle Powell are ranked among the Div. II leaders. Grossbard ranks 26th averaging 5.0 assists per game while Beathea ranks second in offensive rebounds per game (6.0), is 16th in double-doubles (12) and 14th in rebounds per game (12.1). Powell is ranked 25th averaging 2.25 blocks per game.
OFFENSIVELY AND DEFENSIVELYAs of 1/25, the Owls are ranked among the top 50 nationally Div. II programs in two statistical categories. The Owls are No. 16 in offensive rebounds per game (17.0) and No. 47 in blocked shots per game (4.1).
BEATHEA AMONG SCSU CAREER LEADERSJackie Beathea is fourth in the all-time career rebounding category with 734 rebounds and tied the single-game high of 19 rebounds on 11/19/14 at Adelphi.
BENCH SUCCESSSouthern Conn. has benefitted from increased scoring output from nearly its entire roster this season. The team has totaled 1385 points this season while 460 of those points come from off the bench.

DESALVO NOTEBert DeSalvo is in his first full season as head coach for the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team. Entering the season, DeSalvo had compiled a 99-26 (.792) overall record as a head coach.
