Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team lost its season finale Friday evening to No. 4 Southern New Hampshire by a final score of 3-0.
The Owls finish the season with an overall record of 9-6-1 and a conference record of 8-4-1. Despite the loss, Southern Connecticut has clinched a spot in the Northeast-10 Tournament.
The Penmen first scored in the 37th minute. Sebastian Stezewski's shot to the near post was saved by
Noah Varonier (Miller Place, N.Y.). The rebound went right to Michael Rowley and he put it away for the first goal of the game.
Stezewski scored himself in the 55th minute. He shot to the near post and beat Varonier on the right side for his eighth goal of the year.
The Penmen added an insurance goal in the 77th minute from Cluade Diesse. Diesse sped down the field during a counter attack and received a long through ball from Sofaine Tergou as he approached the top of the box. Varonier came out of the net and Diesse shot past him. Varoner made five saves in the game.
The Owls were outshot 20-5 and eight to one in shots on goal.
Southern Connecticut will play in the NE-10 Tournament next week. The official schedule will be released by the conference later tonight.
