Complete Game Notes as a .PDFA NEW SEASON BEGINSThe Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team opens up the 2015-16 season on Nov. 14 as the Owls participate in the 2015 UB Women's Basketball Tournament. On Saturday, the Owls take on the University of Sciences in Philadelphia at 2:30 p.m. before facing the University of Bridgeport on Sunday evening at 5 p.m.
IN SEASON OPENERSSouthern Connecticut is 31-14 all-time in season-opening games. The Owls lost last year's season opener to Molloy College 79-72 as part of the 2014 UB Women's Basketball Classic.
SCOUTING UNIV. OF SCIENCES• Last season, the Devils posted a record of 20-8.
•Brianne Traub led the Devils last season averaging 19.9 points per game while shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from long range.
• As a team, the Devils averaged 68.5 points per contest as well as averaged 37.7 rebounds, 16.9 assists, 6.9 steals and 2.8 blocks per game.
• Last season against the Devils, Southern Conn. lost by the score of 78-61.
SCOUTING UNIV. OF BRIDGEPORT• Last season, the Purple Knights recorded a 7-21 overall record.
• Tiara Aziz led the Purple Knights averaging 15.6 points while shooting 42 percent from floor and 44.7 percent from behind the arc.
• Bridgeport registered a team free throw percentage of 71.1 percent while its opponent shot 71.6 percent from the line.
• Last season against Bridgeport, Southern Conn. lost by the score of 65-57.
ALL-TIME AGAINST UNIV. OF SCIENCESSouthern Conn. and Univ. of Sciences are tied in the all-time series with a record of 1-1.

LYNCH NOTEKate Lynch '08 begins her first full season as head coach for the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team. Lynch has compiled a 81-65 overall record as a head coach. Lynch remains the all-time leading scorer in Owls' history (1,779 points) and ranks fifth all-time in rebounds (650).

LOOKING BACK ON THE SEASON THAT WASThe Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team closed the regular season with 14 wins and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Owls had one student-athlete recognized by the league with year-end honors.
BEATHEA MOVES UP IN SCSU ALL-TIME CHARTSAfer a successful campaign last season,
Jackie Beathea now leads the all-time charts in rebounds with 882 while also ranking 16th in points with 1,118.
BEATHEA NAMED ALL-NE-10For the third year in a row,
Jackie Beathea earned All-Conference honors after an impressive season as she led the Owls in scoring with 384 points and rebounds with 323. She also recorded 16 double-doubles.
AMONG THE NE-10 LEADERSAmongst the returners, the Owls had three players finish in the top five of Northeast-10 Conference participants in four categories.

Jackie Beathea finished No. 1 in rebounds per game, pulling down 11.1 per contest.
