Women's Basketball Hosts American International and St. Edward's University This Week

The Owls welcome Southwest Division foe AIC to Moore Field House for a Northeast-10 Conference showdown beginning at 5:30 p.m.

CONFERENCE ACTION RESUMES

After posting a 1-1 record in week two, the Southern Connecticut State University looks to re-group and resume Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday evening as the Owls welcome American International to Moore Field House. Following a short break due to the holiday, the Owls will host a non-confernce game on Sunday afternoon against St. Edward's University.

TEAM RECORDS AND INFORMATION
•The Yellow Jackets are currently leading the Southwest Division with an unbeaten conference mark of 2-0 as well as has an overall record of 2-0.
•The Hilltoppers are 2-1 on the season and won their last game against Huston-Tillotson, 78-69. Before Sunday's game, they will play Texas A&M University - Kingsville on Tuesday and Merrimack College on Saturday.

ALL-TIME AGAINST AIC
American International leads the Owls in the all-time series with a record of 23-15.

LAST SEASON AGAINST AIC
•In the first meeting of the year, Southern Connecticut defeated AIC by the score of 73-66.
•In the second meeting of the year, AIC came back to defeat the Owls by the score of 53-43.

ALL-TIME AGAINST ST. EDWARD'S
This will be the first meeting between Southern Conn. and St. Edward's University.

LAST TIME OUT
In week two, the Owls went 1-1 as well as went 0-1 in NE-10 play. Despite a late run, Southern Connecticut fell to nationally ranked Adelphi 69-68, but the Owls bounced back to defeat Post University 70-53.

BACK-TO-BACK DOUBLE-DOUBLE
In the first game against Adelphi, Jackie Beathea registered her first double-double of the season with 16 point and 14 rebounds. Beathea then registered her second double-double of the season against Post University with 21 points and 22 rebounds.

BEATHEA SETS NEW SCSU SINGLE GAME-HIGH
In the win against the Eagles, Jackie Beathea set a new SCSU single game-high in rebounds with 22. She posted 10 rebounds in the first half and 12 rebounds in the second half.

CAREER-HIGH FOR BEATHEA
Jackie Beathea also set a new career-high for herself in the rebounding category with 22. She was also one steal shy of tying her career-high of five.

WEEK TWO STAT BREAKDOWN
Jackie Beathea led the Owls last week with 18.5 points, 18.0 rebounds and five steals.
Nicole Grossbard led the Owls with six assists while Taylor McLaughlin led the team with three blocks.
• As a team, the Owls shot 37.4 percent from the field, 31.4 percent from long range and 59.2 percent from the free-throw line.

BEATHEA NAMED CT ARMY NATIONAL GUARD/SCSU ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
For the first time this season, Jackie Beathea has been named CT Army National Guard/ SCSU Athlete of the Week after her stellar performance for the Owls last week. Beathea was also named the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll.

NEW ARRIVALS
The Owls welcome four newcomers to the squad for the 2015-16 season – Jana Migliaro, Amanda Pfohl, Allie Smith and Erin Ryder.

WELCOME BACK
Southern Connecticut returns 13 players from last year's squad – seniors Liz McKinley, Jacqueline Deens, Jackie Beathea, Nicole Grossbard and Danielle Powell, juniors Taylor McLaughlin and Maria Weselyj, sophomores Chandler Williams, Abby Hurlbert, Paige Decker Chloe Brinton and Kendra Meredith, red-shirt sophomore Murphy Murade.

LYNCH NOTE
Kate Lynch '08 begins her first full season as head coach for the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team. Lynch has compiled a 81-65 overall record as a head coach. Lynch remains the all-time leading scorer in Owls' history (1,779 points) and ranks fifth all-time in rebounds (650).

Southern Connecticut was selected fourth in the Southwest Division according to the Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

TRI-CAPTAINS
Senior's Jacqueline Deens, Nicole Grossbard and Danielle Powell will serve as team tri-captains for the Owls this winter.

LOOKING BACK ON THE SEASON THAT WAS
The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team closed the regular season with 14 wins and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Owls had one student-athlete recognized by the league with year-end honors.

BEATHEA MOVES UP IN SCSU ALL-TIME CHARTS
Afer a successful campaign last season, Jackie Beathea now leads the all-time charts in rebounds with 882 while also ranking 16th in points with 1,118.

BEATHEA NAMED ALL-NE-10
For the third year in a row, Jackie Beathea earned All-Conference honors after an impressive season as she led the Owls in scoring with 384 points and rebounds with 323. She also recorded 16 double-doubles.

AMONG THE NE-10 LEADERS
Amongst the returners, the Owls had three players finish in the top five of Northeast-10 Conference participants in four categories.
Jackie Beathea finished No. 1 in rebounds per game, pulling down 11.1 per contest.
Jackie Beathea finished No. 1 in offensive rebounds per game, pulling down 5.0 per contest.
Nicole Grossbard finished No. 2 in assists per game, recording 4.9 per contest.
Danielle Powell finished No. 2 in blocks per game, tallying 2.0 per contest.

EXCELLING IN THE CLASSROOM
Southern Connecticut had 11 student-athletes selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the 2014-15 academic year.

The Owls resume NE-10 Conference play on Dec. 2 as the team travels cross town to the Univ. of New Haven. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
