Women's Basketball Hosts Concordia (N.Y.) and Pace University This Week

The Owls will take on the Clippers on Thursday evening, before facing the Setters on Saturday.

OWLS CONTINUE SIX GAME HOME STAND
Following Saturday's win, the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team continues its six game home stand as the Owls will face Concordia (N.Y.) on Thursday evening and battle Pace University on Saturday afternoon. 

SCOUTING CONCORDIA
• The Clippers enter Thursday's game with an overall record of 1-5. 
• Concordia's only win of the season thus far came against P.R. Bayaman, 74-67
• The Clippers are currently on a three-game losing streak.

SCOUTING PACE
• The Setters are currently 5-2 on the season and 2-2 in the league.
• Pace is coming off a big 60-55 win over New Haven on Saturday, Dec. 5.
• Pace will face Bridgeport before facing the Owls on Saturday.

ALL-TIME AGAINST CONCORDIA (N.Y.)
Southern Connecticut leads the Concordia in the all-time series with a record of 16-1.

LAST SEASON AGAINST CONCORDIA (N.Y.)
In the single game against the Clippers, Southern Connecticut defeated the team 67-61. The Owls had four players score in double-figures.

ALL-TIME AGAINST PACE
Southern Connecticut leads Pace in the all-time series with a record of 20-17. 

LAST SEASON AGAINST PACE
Southern Connecticut went 1-1 last year against the Setters. In the first meeting of the year, the Owls defeated Pace by seven, 59-52. Taylor McLaughlin led the Owls that evening with a team-high 16 points. In the second meeting of the year, Pace picked up the 61-57 win over the Owls. Nicole Grossbard recorded a season-high 17 points in that game.

LAST TIME OUT
In week four, Southern Connecticut went 1-1 overall as well as in the conference. The first game of the week, Southern Connecticut lost to cross-town rival the University of New Haven by the score of 66-57. However, the Owls bounced back to pick up their first conference victory against Saint Rose, 70-60.

BEATHEA RECORDS FOURTH DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Jackie Beathea recorded her fourth double-double of the season as she led the Owls with 15 points, 14 rebounds and a steal against New Haven.

DECKER NETS CAREER-HIGH
Paige Decker scored a career-high 19 points as well as recorded a season-high four rebounds and a season-high four assists in the win against Saint Rose.

BEATHEA AMONG NCAA LEADERS
According to the NCAA Ranking Summary (12/3), Jackie Beathea is ranked:
• third in rebounds per game with 12.6.
• first in offensive rebounds per game with 6.0
• sixth in total rebounds with 88.0.

NORTHEAST-10 LEADERS (as of 12/7)
Jackie Beathea not only leads the team, but leads the conference in rebounds averaging 12.0 a contest.
Maria Weselyj is third in the conference with a three-point shooting percentage of 53.8 percent. 
Nicole Grossbard is third in the league in assists averaging 5.1 a game.

BEATHEA SETS NEW SCSU SINGLE GAME-HIGH
In the win against the Eagles, Jackie Beathea set a new SCSU single game-high in rebounds with 22. She posted 10 rebounds in the first half and 12 rebounds in the second half.

NEW ARRIVALS
The Owls welcome four newcomers to the squad for the 2015-16 season – Jana Migliaro, Amanda Pfohl, Allie Smith and Erin Ryder.

WELCOME BACK
Southern Connecticut returns 13 players from last year's squad – seniors Liz McKinley, Jacqueline Deens, Jackie Beathea, Nicole Grossbard and Danielle Powell, juniors Taylor McLaughlin and Maria Weselyj, sophomores Chandler Williams, Abby Hurlbert, Paige Decker Chloe Brinton and Kendra Meredith, red-shirt sophomore Murphy Murad.

LYNCH NOTE
Kate Lynch '08 begins her first full season as head coach for the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team. Lynch has compiled a 81-65 overall record as a head coach. Lynch remains the all-time leading scorer in Owls' history (1,779 points) and ranks fifth all-time in rebounds (650).

Southern Connecticut was selected fourth in the Southwest Division according to the Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

TRI-CAPTAINS
Senior Jacqueline Deens, Nicole Grossbard and Danielle Powell will serve as team tri-captains for the Owls this winter.

LOOKING BACK ON THE SEASON THAT WAS
The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team closed the regular season with 14 wins and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Owls had one student-athlete recognized by the league with year-end honors.

BEATHEA MOVES UP IN SCSU ALL-TIME CHARTS
Afer a successful campaign last season, Jackie Beathea now leads the all-time charts in rebounds with 924 while also ranking 16th in points with 1,219.

BEATHEA NAMED ALL-NE-10
For the third year in a row, Jackie Beathea earned All-Conference honors after an impressive season as she led the Owls in scoring with 384 points and rebounds with 323. She also recorded 16 double-doubles.

AMONG THE NE-10 LEADERS
Amongst the returners, the Owls had three players finish in the top five of Northeast-10 Conference participants in four categories.
Jackie Beathea finished No. 1 in rebounds per game, pulling down 11.1 per contest.
Jackie Beathea finished No. 1 in offensive rebounds per game, pulling down 5.0 per contest.
Nicole Grossbard finished No. 2 in assists per game, recording 4.9 per contest.
Danielle Powell finished No. 2 in blocks per game, tallying 2.0 per contest.

EXCELLING IN THE CLASSROOM
Southern Connecticut had 11 student-athletes selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the 2014-15 academic year.

UP NEXT
The Owls return to action on Dec. 17 as the team welcomes Caldwell University to Moore Field House for a non-conference battle. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
