HEADING INTO THE NE-10 CHAMPIONSHIPDespite ending the season with a, 53-43, loss to American International on Tuesday, the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team remains No. 3 in the upcoming NE-10 Championship. On Sunday, the Owls will be traveling north to Rindge, N.H. to take on No. 2 Franklin Pierce in the second round of the NE-10 Championship.

ALL-TIME AGAINST FRANKLIN PIERCEFranklin Pierce leads the all-time series against the Owls, 32-16.
PREVIOUSLY AGAINST THE RAVENSThis season Southern Conn. defeated Franklin Pierce at home, 71-63. Senior guard
Mariah Hankton led the Owls for the third-straight game with 19 points and eight rebounds.
SCOUTING THE RAVENS-Franklin Pierce concluded the regular season with a 17-9 overall record and a 13-8 mark in the Northeast-10 Conference.
-Kara Charette leads the team and ranks third in the conference averaging 17.6 points while shooting 52.9 percent from the field.
-As a team, the Ravens rank second in the conference in free throws made per game (14.8) as well as leads the conference with a 77.8 free throw percentage.
-At home Franklin Pierce, is shooting 46.4 percent from the floor, 81.4 percent from the line while averaging 40.2 rebounds and 72.9 points.
DEJA VUSunday's contest is also a rematch of a first-round contest from last season's Northeast-10 Championship, a game which also took place in Rindge. The Ravens scored a 74-66 victory in that contest.
Keshia Primo, who graduated, poured in a game-high 29 points in defeat for SCSU.

Jackie Beathea has recieved All-Conference honors by the Northeast-10, announced Thursday afternoon. Beathea has been recognized by the NE-10 Conference as a Second Team selection.

DOUBLING UPThis past Tuesday,
Jackie Beathea recorded her 16th double-double of the year, 11 points and 12 rebounds, as well as posted an assist, a block and a steal.

Nicole Grossbard set a new career-high with 15 points on the road against Pace. On Saturday,
Kendra Meredith tied her career-high two points while
Abby Hurlbert set a new career-high five points.
MOVING UP THE LADDERJackie Beathea ranks second in the SCSU all-time career rebounding category with 814 rebounds and tied the single-game high of 19 rebounds on 11/19/14 at Adelphi. She also ranks 16th in the SCSU all-time career points with 1,094.

Danielle Powell are ranked among the Div. II leaders. Grossbard ranks 26th averaging 5.0 assists per game while Beathea ranks third in offensive rebounds per game (5.0), is 14th in rebounds per game (11.4), is 17th in double-doubles (15) and 43rd in field-goal percentage (51.4%). Powell is ranked 27th averaging 2.11 blocks per game.
OFFENSIVELY AND DEFENSIVELYAs of 2/26, the Owls are ranked among the top 50 nationally Div. II programs in two statistical categories. The Owls are 27th in offensive rebounds per game (16.0) and 47th in blocks (4.0).
BENCH SUCCESSSouthern Conn. has benefitted from increased scoring output from nearly its entire roster this season. The team has totaled 1905 points this season while 639 of those points come from off the bench.

DESALVO NOTEBert DeSalvo is in his first full season as head coach for the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team. Entering the season, DeSalvo had compiled a 99-26 (.792) overall record as a head coach.
IN THE POLLSSouthern Connecticut was selected seventh in the Southwest Division according to the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll.

LOOKING BACK ON THE SEASON THAT WASThe Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team closed the regular season with 12 wins and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Owls had three student-athletes recognized by the league with year-end honors.
