Box Score BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team lost 2-0 to the Bridgeport Purple Knights on Wednesday evening.
With the loss, the Owls fall to 2-2, while Bridgeport moves to 4-1.
The stats are very similar. SCSU took nine shots, two of them on goal. Bridgeport took 10 shots, with four on goal.
The difference was Jay Abreu, who scored first for the Purple Knights in the 29th minute off of a cross to the top right of the box. On the second goal, he kicked the corner kick to the back post that Rafael Torres headed past
Noah Varonier (Miller Place, N.Y.).
The Owls had a chance to cut the lead in the 59th minute, but
Christian Samaniego's (Toronto, Ontario) header hit the post. The Owls were aggressive in this game - they were called for being offside eight times compared to just one for Bridgeport.
Southern Connecticut returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Colchester, Vt. to take on Saint Michael's.
