Box Score GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The No. 16 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team won its season opening game, 1-0, against Dominican College on Thursday evening.
The only score of the game came in the ninth minute. Newcomer Louis Greenway-Tambini (Nottingham, England) put one past Dominican keeper Steven Hegner after there was a scramble for the ball in the middle of the box. Â
The Owls won the game despite the Chargers taking more than twice as many shots and nearly twice as many corner kicks. There were 28 fouls called in the game, 11 of them on SCSU.
The Owls will play one more neutral site game at Adelphi on Saturday. They take on LIU Post at 3 p.m.
