GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team fell short in overtime to No. 9 Adelphi University this evening, 3-2.

SECOND HALF
Florent Girarden scored the first goal of the game for the Panthers at the 47:49 mark to take a 1-0 lead. Adelphi continued its scoring load with a goal from James Thristino in the 70th minute to give the Panthers a commanding 2-0 lead. But the Owls clawed its way back in the game with a goal from sophomore Alex Brown (Rock Hill, Conn.), off an assist from freshman Zak Wright (East Haddam, Conn.) in the 84th minute to trim the deficit, 2-1. Junior Sabri Akter (Unionville, Conn.) would score the equalizer in the 86th minute to force overtime. 

OVERTIME
Caelan Hueber would score the game-winning goal for the Panthers in the 96th minute. 

GOALIE PLAY
Junior Noah Varonier (Miller Place, N.Y.) nabbed five saves. The junior has 46 saves on the year through 13 games. 

ON DECK
The Owls continue its road trip with a showdown against Assumption College on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m.
