NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Thanks to another outstanding team effort in all three phases of the game, the Southern Connecticut State University football team rolled to a 35-13 victory over Bentley on Homecoming today. It was the second win in a row for the Owls.

Vochan Fowler (Bridgeport, Conn.) rushed for a game-high 114 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns.
Paris Crawford (Bayonne, N.J.) totaled a career-high 88 yards on 18 carries. The Owls rushed for 203 yards on the ground and held Bentley just 218 yards of offense. Southern's defense forced two turnovers and registered three turnovers on downs, while a blocked punt from
Justin Potts (Meriden, Conn.) turned into another score.
THAT'S THE WAY TO START: The Owls' special teams forced a Bentley fumble on the opening kickoff and needed just four plays to find the end zone.
Devon Davis (Irvington, N.J.) found the end zone from four yards out and
Joe Rice (Union Beach, N.J.) added the PAT for a 7-0 lead. After forcing Bentley to a three-and-out, Southern went 61 yards in eight plays for a 14-0 lead.
Raymond Catapano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) scored from five yards out for a 14-0 advantage after Rice's PAT.
SPECIAL TEAMS COME THROUGH: Leading 14-3 in the second quarter, Potts blocked a Bentley punt which
Brandon Pelzer (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) scooped up and returned to the Falcons 20. On the next play, Fowler broke through for a touchdown that increased the lead to 21-3 after Rice's PAT. The Falcons added a field goal on the final play of the half to cut the Owls' lead to 21-6.
CLOSING IT OUT: Fowler's second touchdown of the day, from 11 yards out, on the opening drive of the second half stretched the Southern advantage to 28-6. The Falcons made it 28-13 before the Owls' delivered the knockout punch on a 55-yard touchdown pass from Catapano to
Devante Jenkins (Carson, Calif.).
NOTABLE NOTES: Catapano was 9-of-12 for 149 yards with two touchdowns (one rushing, one passing). Jenkins caught five passes for 93 yards.
Michael Cerisano (Newburgh, N.Y.) had a team-high eight tackles, while
Vasilios Grigorakos (Port Washington, N.Y.) had seven tackles and two sacks.
